Indoor hockey coach due today
Bangladesh’s first indoor hockey coach, Hamidreza Bokhraii Kashi of Iran, will arrive in Dhaka today to train the national team for next month’s Indoor Asia Cup.
A 34-member preliminary squad started training in Dhaka in the last week of May before moving to BKSP after the Eid vacation. The 36-year-old coach will join the squad at BKSP later tonight.
With a bachelors in physical education and sports science, Hamidreza has held many positions in Iranhockey since 2008. Under his guidance, Iran has clinched all seven titles of indoor Asia Cup so far.
The eighth edition of the tournament will be held in Thailand from July 15 to 21. Bangladesh have been placed in Pool A alongside Iran, Malaysia, Thailand and Philippines while Pool B features Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Chinese Taipei, Singapore, Myanmar and Nepal.
