Hosts lose against Maldives
Hosts Bangladesh will look to bounce back from their defeat against Maldives when they take on favourites Nepal in their third match of the Bangamata Asian Senior Women’s Central Zone Volleyball Championship at the Shaheed Suhrawardi Indoor Stadium today.
Bangladesh started the tournament with a comfortable 3-0 sets win against Afghanistan on Saturday, but suffered a 3-0 sets defeat against Maldives the following day despite giving the Maldivians a fight.
After losing the first set 25-16, the hosts took the second set down to the wire before losing by 27-25 points. The women in red and green put up a fight in the third set too, but eventually lost the set by 25-22 points.
The women in red and green must win today’s game to keep their hopes of a final berth alive. The match will get underway at 3:00pm after Afghanistan square off against Kyrgyzstan at 11:00am.
