Hockey icon Mohsin passes away

Former national hockey players and national sports awardee Mohammad Mohsin passed away at the Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University in the early hours of Saturday. He was 71.
Born in Mahut Tuli in Old Dhaka, Mohammad Mohsin played for the East Pakistan hockey team in 1967-68. A Blue of the University of Dhaka, Mohammad Mohsin later represented the Bangladesh national hockey team during the '70s before coaching the side in the '80s. A multitalented sportsman, he played both hockey and football for top clubs like Abahani.
He was also a personal security officer of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, according to a press release from Abahani.
He was bestowed with the national sports award in 2009 for his contribution to sports.
The late hockey icon left behind his wife, a son, a daughter and a host of well-wishers.
