DPMS emerge champions

Following his exclusion from the ongoing Bangladesh Cricket League, Mohammad Ashraful definitely has the urge to prove himself.

The former national player may have done just that yesterday in the AM Sayedur Rahman Memorial T-20 Cricket Tournament final, striking an unbeaten 51 runs to help Dashra Palli Mangal Samity (DPMS) defeat Bandhu Ekadash by 8 wickets at the Shaheed Miraj-Tapan Stadium.

Bandhu Ekadash had elected to bat and scored 112 runs in 20 overs with Moinul of DPMS taking two of the six wickets that fell.

In response, DPMS rushed to the victory in 15.5 overs for the loss of two wickets. Player-of-the match Moinul remained unbeaten on 41 runs.

Manikganj deputy commissioner SM Ferdous distributed prizes among the winners.

The top eight cricket teams of the district took part in the tournament, which was organized by the Manikganj district sports association.
