Archers aim to create further history
German archery coach Martin Fredrick believes Bangladesh have been on the right track after guiding Ruman Sana and Diya Siddique to win the silver medal in recurve mixed doubles event of Archery World Cup (Stage-2) in Lausanne, Switzerland.
"If you tell me to assess the overall performance, I will tell you that winning a silver medal is a great achievement though we had more space for achieving further. I was expecting a little bit more from the archers but that fact is that we have been struggling with our practice without the competitions," Fredrick told the reporters upon arrival at the airport from Switzerland along with the team officials and the archers.
"This success is bound to give us ample motivational boost to look forward to the World Cup (Stage-3) in France (June 21-27)," said Fredrick.
"We have very little time for the next mission of the World Cup (stage-3), which is the last qualification phase for Tokyo Olympics (July-August.). The men's team, women's team and women's individual in recurve events have the opportunity to secure the Olympic quota places which is our goal though the competition is quite high in terms of standard but we will give our best."
