Archer Prodipta stuns Olympics qualifier
Archer Prodipta Chakma beat Tokyo Olympic qualified archer Khairul Anuar in Asia Cup stage-2 before being eliminated from individual recurve quarterfinals in Gwangju, South Korea today.
In the pre- quarterfinal, the BKSP student notched up a 6-4 win over Malaysian Khairul Anuar, who beat Ruman Sana in the final of individual recurve event of World Archery Championships in Netherlands in 2019 to earn a direct entry into the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.
However, the promising archer lost to Japanese Furukawa Takaharu 2-6 in quarterfinal to be eliminated from the tournament.
Prodipta, who paired with Rajani Akter, also suffered a 0-6 defeat to Japanese pair Takaharu and Hayakawa Ren in recurve mixed semifinal.
