Women’s kabaddi league resumes after nine years
The women's kabaddi league finally resumed after a nine-year hiatus today at the Outer Stadium Kabaddi Court in Dhaka.
The opening match of Nazihar IT Solution Women's Kabaddi League saw Bangladesh Games champions Bangladesh Ansar and VDP registered an easy 66-07 win over Jamalpur Kabaddi Academy before Meghna Kabaddi Club defeated Azad Sporting Club by 45-18 points.
11 clubs, split into two groups, are participating where top two teams from each group will advance to the semifinals, scheduled to take place on November 29, followed by the final on November 30.
Earlier, Janata Bank's managing director and league committee chairman Abdus Salam Azad inaugurated the 11-team league while sponsor group's managing director Zillur Rahman was present as the special guest.
Bangladesh Kabaddi Federation's joint secretary and additional DIG of Police Gazi Mohammad Mozzamel Haque, joint secretary-2 Newas Shohag and treasurer Arif Mihir and member and actress Apu Biswas were also present on the occasion.
