Bangladesh lose to USA after beating Brazil
Bangladesh's mixed recurve team was eliminated from the pre-quarterfinal of the Archery World Cup Stage-2 after losing 3-5 to second-seeded United States in Paris today.
The duo of Ruman Sana and Diya Siddique fought neck to neck after losing the first two sets against the USA's Casey Kaufhold and Brady Ellison. They fought back to make it 4-2 and needed to win another set to force tiebreakers, but Sana and Diya had to be satisfied with a draw in the fourth set, allowing the United States to win 5-3.
However, Bangladesh's top two archers had earlier beaten Brazil 5-4 in tiebreakers after the match was tied at 4 sets each.
Bangladeshi lost the first set before drawing the second and third sets to make it 4-2. They had no choice but to win the fourth and final set if they wanted to stay alive and managed that to take the game into tiebreakers, where they scored 16 against the Brazilian pair's 13 to advance to the pre-quarterfinals.
Shana and Diya won the fourth set to tie the match with 4-4 points and took the match to the tiebreaker where they scored 16 against Brazil's 13 to advance to the pre-quarterfinal.
