U-15 take on Bhutan
Defending champions Bangladesh will look to kick off their SAFF U-15 Championship campaign on a high note when they take on Bhutan at the Kalyani Stadium in West Bengal, India today.
Two-time champions Bangladesh seem upbeat about making a winning start against Bhutan, who they previously hammered 8-0 in the 2017 edition. This time around however, Bhutan showed some promise in their opening match against Sri Lanka. It should be mentioned though that although Bhutan held a 2-0 lead at one stage, they ultimately lost the match 3-2.
“We watched Bhutan’s match, it will not be a difficult task to win if the boys display their natural game,” said assistant coach Janeh Alam Nuri.
The boys in red and green prepared for this championship for nearly four months and even played a few warm-up matches against under-18 squads of Bangladesh Premier League clubs before heading over to India, where they played another practice match against the United Sports Club’s under-15 side.
“We are in good shape and condition. We want to make a winning start by displaying good football. We will play attacking football against Bhutan,” said captain Rakibul Islam.
