‘The idea of Ronaldo going to Manchester City was torture’

Having been heavily linked with a move away to Manchester City, Cristiano Ronaldo stunned the sporting world with a last-minute twist that saw him make a sensational return to Manchester United on Friday, 12 years after leaving the club as the world's most expensive player.
And unsurprisingly, football experts, journalists and fans, in general, took to social media to express their reactions to such a sensational transfer.
"The idea of him going to Manchester City was torture. If there is a big player available Manchester United have to be in the market for that player," said former Manchester United captain Gary Neville.
"@Cristiano is going back to @ManUtd . Wow! Just Wow. What a signing. What a transfer window for United. What a home coming. Love it," wrote former Barcelona and England striker Gary Lineker on Twitter.
