Iraq footballers in probe over night out
Iraq's football federation said Monday it was investigating whether national team players in Abu Dhabi for the Asian Cup this month snuck out of their hotel to party at a nightclub.
Media reports have alleged that after their draw last week against Iran in the final group-stage match, some Iraqi players travelled to nearby Dubai for a night out.
If the allegations prove to be correct, the federation would consider legal action for "defamation" and harming Iraq's reputation, its media head Mohammad Khalaf told AFP. --Afp
Neymar unlikely to be fit to face Man Utd
Paris Saint-Germain coach Thomas Tuchel has admitted Neymar is unlikely to be fit in time for the first leg of their Champions League last-16 tie against Manchester United next month.
"It's going to be super difficult", Tuchel told Canal+ when asked if Neymar would return from a metatarsal injury in time for the game at Old Trafford on February 12.
"It is still too early to talk about a return date because we need to wait and see how 'Ney' reacts to treatment to be more precise," he said after PSG beat Rennes 4-1 at the Parc des Princes. --Afp
Zola hopes for more goals from Hudson-Odoi
Gianfranco Zola insisted Chelsea wanted Callum Hudson-Odoi to stay at Stamford Bridge after the highly-rated teenager scored on what could be his last appearance for the club.
The England youth international was on target in between a Willian double as FA Cup holders Chelsea won 3-0 at home to Championship side Sheffield Wednesday in the fourth round on Sunday.
The match took place just hours after press reports said Hudson-Odoi had handed in a transfer request, with German giants Bayern Munich previously linked with a move for the 18-year-old winger. But Zola said of Hudson-Odoi: "He has a contract. We believe in what he can do for this team. I don't think there are many 18-year-old players that are playing as much as him in a big team." --Afp
