Ronaldo's emotional tribute
Cristiano Ronaldo has enjoyed a reunion with Sir Alex Ferguson for the first time since the legendary Manchester United boss suffered a brain haemorrhage in May.
Former manager Ferguson was not at the game, but visited Ronaldo at the Juventus team hotel after the Italians beat United 1-0 in the Champions League.
Writing on Twitter alongside the picture, Ronaldo said: 'A great coach and above all a wonderful man. Taught me so many things inside and outside the pitch. Great to see you in good shape, Boss!'
Ronaldo has regularly referred to Ferguson as a father figure in his life, taking him from a flashy winger to a more rounded goalscorer.
Federer fights into Basel 2nd round
Roger Federer had to fight hard to hold off Serbia's Filip Krajinovic on Tuesday, edging to a 6-2, 4-6, 6-4 win to reach the second round of the Swiss Indoors.
The eight-time champion flirted with his earliest exit in Basel since his 1998 debut as a teenager, but came out on top in a nervy deciding set.
"I was up 6-2, 3-1, it could have ended very quickly," Federer said. "But I made life more difficult. "I didn't have the best serving stats, maybe that caught up to me.
"But these are different balls, more altitude than in Shanghai, it's about getting used to it. And first rounds are always tricky, it's never a given that you are going to win."
Hazard out of BATE clash
Chelsea midfielder Eden Hazard will miss Thursday's Europa League tie against Belarusian side BATE Borisov with a back injury and faces a race to be fit for Sunday's Premier League game against Burnley, manager Maurizio Sarri said.
The Belgium international has been Chelsea's best performer with seven goals in nine Premier League appearances for the club so far this season.
"(Eden) is out," Sarri told a news conference on Wednesday. "He's got a back problem. We're trying to solve the problem for Sunday."
The Italian, whose team are third in the Premier League and top their Europa League group L with two wins in two games, also said he would rest midfielder Jorginho, who has started all nine of Chelsea's league games so far.
