Salahuddin to receive lifetime achievement award from NSC
Legendary footballer Kazi Salahuddin has been selected for a lifetime achievement award in the Sheikh Kamal National Sports Council Awards 2021 with the Youth and Sports Ministry today announcing 12 athletes, organisers, federation, sports journalist and sponsors in seven categories for sports awards.
"The awards were suspended for 30 long years but we revived the National Sports Council Awards by naming it after Sheikh Kamal, the eldest son of Bangabandhu and pioneer of country's sports and cultural movements," state minister for youth and sports Jahid Ahsan Russel said at a press conference on digital platform from Japan today.
"Previously we could recognise only athletes and organisers through National Sports Award but we can now recognise more people and institutions through Sheikh Kamal National Sports Council Awards," added the minister hoping to give away the awards every year on August 5, on the occasion of the birthday of Sheikh Kamal.

Life-time achievement: Kazi Salahuddin
Best Players: Ruman Sana, Mabia Akter Simanta and Mahfuza Khatun Shila.
Promising players: cricketer Akbar Ali, International Master Mohammad Fahad Rahman and football Unnoti Khatun.
Best Organisers: Manzur Kader and Kyaw Shwe Hla.
Sports Federation/Association: BCB
Sports Journalist: Muhammad Kamruzzaman..
Best Sponsor: Walton.
The prizes, certificates will be handed over to the winners at the NSC auditorium tomorrow.
