Martinez excited about Dhaka visit
Argentina's World Cup winning goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez, on his social media, expressed his excitement about his upcoming trip to the subcontinent.
The 30-year-old, who will tour the Indian subcontinent from July 3 to 5, wrote that he was excited to meet the Bangladesh fans, adding: 'Ami tomader bhalobashi'.
"Hello Everybody, I will be doing my maiden trip to Indian subcontinent from 3rd July to 5th July and will participate in many charitable activities including visiting as a chief guest for a charity football match at Mohunbagan club, many fan engagement programs, sponsors felicitation and promote the beautiful game. I know Kolkata and Bangladesh has huge Argentina fans and I am very excited to meet them," he wrote on his official Facebook account.
Satadru Dutta, the Kolkata-based sports promoter who is bringing the Argentina and Aston Villa goalkeeper to the subcontinent, said he would come to Bangladesh soon to apprise everyone about the details of the tour.
"We all know Emiliano Martinez has a star in this part of the world and he is very excited to come to Bangladesh," Dutta told The Daily Star over phone on Monday.
"He will likely have a meet and greet with a sponsor over lunch and with another likely over dinner. Then he would likely meet Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and present her with a jersey if she can give time. There might also be an event at a stadium if possible," added Dutta, who previously brought football legends like Pele and Diego Maradona to Kolkata.
