Bangladesh to play against Maldives, Mongolia in March
Bangladesh national football team will play two FIFA friendly matches against Maldives and Mongolia during the FIFA window, confirmed Bangladesh Football Federation's vice-president Kazi Nabil Ahmed.
In a video message on Tuesday, the National Teams Committee chairman said, "We communicated with various countries to utilise the FIFA Window from March 21 to 29. Following internal discussions, we have primarily decided to play two friendly matches against Maldives and Mongolia. We are communicating with FIFA to get final approval."
"Our team will go to Maldives on March 22 and play the friendly against Maldives on March 24. The following day the team will return and go straight to Sylhet, where they will play another friendly against Mongolia," Nabil added.
It's worth mentioning here that Bangladesh had planned to play two FIFA friendlies away to Indonesia in January, but the country's strict requirement on double-vaccination against Covid meant the tour had to be abandoned.
Some or the players of the national team were not double-vaccinated at that time, but BFF has since arranged for their vaccination.
Bangladesh are currently 186th in FIFA ranking, two places behind Mongolia. Maldives have a FIFA ranking of 157.
