Bangladesh defeated handsomely in semis
Bangladesh were handed a heavy 4-0 defeat by four-time champions India in the semifinal of the SAFF Women’s Championship at the Sahid Rangsala in Biratnagar today.
India went 3-0 up inside 36 minutes of the first half, courtesy of goals from Dalima Chhibber's opener in the 18th min before Indumathi Kathiresan’s double strike in the 22nd and the 36th minute. Manisha Panna completed the rout in the third minute of injury time of the second half.
India have never been defeated in the 21 matches they have played in the SAFF Women's Championship since the inaugural edition in 2010, all the while averaging an incredible 6.23 goals per game. They were held to a draw only once, a goalless encounter against Bangladesh after 18 consecutive wins in the regional women's football extravaganza.
