Davis targets conditioning
The Bangladesh national football team fitness coach Lindsay Davis believes that conditioning the players, in terms of strength and flexibility, will be a crucial hurdle to cross ahead of the Asian Games in August and September's SAFF Championship.
Lindsay joined the booters in Qatar to help conduct a two-week training programme, which featured a 1-1 draw against Al Mesaimeer Sports Club. The team returned on Friday but are expected to leave for South Korea on July 30 for another 10-day training programme, which also includes three practice matches against local sides, as a part of their preparations for the upcoming tournaments.
“It was very hot [in Qatar]. The boys have been hydration tested and I'm trying to change up their diet, it's very strenuous to have changes in diet but I think it's the first thing that has to be done because it's one of the biggest obstacles,” Davis said at an unofficial press briefing at the BFF House yesterday.
“Some players need physical conditioning, in terms of body fat index and such. That's the process where I will introduce strength conditioning as well with about four sessions a week at the gym. I think our biggest problems are going to be strength and flexibility,” the Englishman concluded.
