Cagers bag second win
The Bangladesh national basketball team returned to winning ways in the South Asian zone pre-qualifying round of the FIBA Asian Cup by handing a 79-66 defeat to Nepal at the Dhanmondi Indoor Basketball Gymnasium yesterday.
Bangladesh, who lost to Sri Lanka in their second match after making a winning start against Bhutan, led the first half 33-28 before caging another 46 points in the second half, where Nepal showed character but could not turn the tide of the game their way.
Tareq and Soaib scored 27 and 16 points respectively for Bangladesh, who will take on Maldives in their last group match today.
Meanwhile, Sri Lanka kept their unbeaten run in the tournament intact by beating Maldives 82-57 in their third match.
