Feeling better than before: Tamim
Bangladesh opener Tamim Iqbal said he is feeling physically fitter than ever ahead of the Tiger's three-match T20I series against Afghanistan.
"I think I have ticked every box in the fitness column. And as far as strength is concerned, I'm now feeling better than before. Hopefully, the reflection will be there in the match we will play in a practice scenario today," the experienced left-hander told reporters at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium in Mirpur today.
Tamim has been laid low for the last two months due to a left knee injury. He did not take part in any competitive game since missing the Pakistan Super League final in Karachi in the last week of March.
Tamim will leave Dhaka tonight to take part in a T20I for Rest of the World XI against West Indies at Lord's on May 31. The game has been arranged to raise funds for Caribbean stadiums damaged by Hurricane Irma and Hurricane Maria in September 2017
"It's a privilege to be a part of a good cause. I'm excited and will hopefully play good innings," said the only Bangladesh batsman who has his name on the Lord's honours board.
He however said that Bangladesh's T20I series against Afghanistan in the Indian city of Dehradun next month would be challenging. He also said that the biggest challenge for the Tigers would be to tackle the Afghan bowlers including leg-spinner Rashid Khan, the best bowler in the shorter format at the moment.
"Rashid is more accurate than what he was six months ago. I think they have got other quality bowlers in the team. This is a challenge we have to overcome and I think we have overcome bigger challenges before," said a confident Tamim.
