PERFORMER OF THE DAY: RANGANA HERATH

Rangana Herath will turn 39 in six days, yet the wily old fox is showing no signs of slowing down. The stand-in skipper of the Sri Lanka team, who now holds the record of being the most successful left-arm spinner in Test cricket with 366 wickets in 79 matches, spun his web around the Bangladesh batsmen yesterday to lead his side to a comfortable 159-run victory. Having taken three wickets in the first innings, it was predictable that the premier left-armer would play a bigger role in the second innings, like he often does. And once he got the wicket of Shakib Al Hasan yesterday, making use of the rough that had developed outside the off-stump, there was no stopping Herath. He got rid of Mahmudullah two balls later, with one that drifted in, hitting the batsman plumb in front before accounting for Liton Das, Mehedi Hasan, Taskin Ahmed and Mustafizur Rahman.
