This is a very positive sign for Bangladesh cricket, says Shakib
As many as three Bangladesh cricketers made their way into the ICC Men's ODI Team of the Year for 2021, the International Cricket Council (ICC) revealed today.
Bangladesh happen to have the highest number of representatives in the curated lineup. And Shakib Al Hasan, one of the outstanding eleven individuals who made the cut, expressed his delight at the recognition and reckons this will be a boost for the country's cricket.
"It feels great to be recognised in this manner by the ICC. This is a very positive sign for Bangladesh cricket," Shakib told the media at the Sher-e-Bangladesh Stadium today after his training session with Fortune Barishal, one of the six franchises participating in the 2022 Bangladesh Premier League.
"I think we have been a very good side in the one-dayers over the years, both at home and abroad. This recognition shows that Bangladesh have been displaying good quality cricket," Shakib stated.
The premier allrounder is accompanied by the experienced batter Mushfiqur Rahim and the wily left-arm quick Mustafizur Rahman in the eleven for their impressive performances in the previous calendar year.
