Tigresses breeze into 2023 T20 World Cup
Bangladesh defeated Hong Kong by 11 runs in the semifinals of the ongoing ICC Women's T20 World Cup Qualifiers in Abu Dhabi to book a spot in the tournament proper, scheduled to be held in South Africa next year.
On Sunday, the Tigresses will take on Ireland in a final that will have mainly bragging rights up for grabs, with both finalists securing tickets to next year's T20 World Cup.
Bangladesh have not lost a single game in the qualifiers so far, recording four wins from as many games.
After being asked to bat, Bangladesh reached 113 for the loss of five wickets. Murshida Khatun chipped in with 26 runs off 35 balls while Rumana Ahmed top-scored with a brisk 24-ball 28 that featured two boundaries and a maximum.
In reply, Thailand's Natthakan Chantham waged a lone battle, scoring 64 off just 51 balls. However, despite hitting four boundaries and clearing the ropes three times, her efforts were not enough.
She departed off the penultimate ball of the innings as Thailand could manage to reach only 102 for six at the end of their allotted 20 overs.
