Tamim left out of T20I central contract; Shakib reinstated in all formats

Bangladesh ODI skipper Tamim Iqbal was left out of the Bangladesh Cricket Board's (BCB) central contract list (from May to December 2021) for T20Is after the left-hander had earlier today announced he will not be available for selection for the upcoming T20 World Cup in a Facebook live from his official account. 

Tamim, however, was retained in the central contract for ODIs and Tests after the BCB had made a list separating each format for the first time ever. 

Meanwhile, premier all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan, who was left out of the previous central contract (from January to December 2020) due to the all-rounder serving a year-long ban, has been reinstated in contracts for all three formats -- Tests, ODIs and T20Is. 

BCB, in their 11th meeting of the Board of Directors today, announced an extended central contract list which included a total of 24 players comprising a number of new faces. 

Young left-arm pacer Shoriful Islam was given the central contract for all formats while all-rounders Mahedi Hasan, Shamim Hossain, spinner Nasum Ahmed and wicket-keeper batsman Nurul Hasan Sohan were given only contracts for T20Is. Young opener Saif Hasan was handed contract for only Tests.

Soumya Sarkar, who was included in white-ball only contract previously, was also only included in T20I contract. 

Batsman Mohammad Mithun and spinner Nayeem Hasan were the two players excluded from the central contract list. Mithun was included in the red-ball contract and white-ball contract previously while Nayeem was only included in the red-ball contract in the previous list.
