Sukkur misses out on ton
Although Irfan Sukkur failed to bring up a century, Bangladesh A side were still on top at the end of the second day of their first four-dayer against the High Performance (HP) side at the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chattogram today.
Sukkur and Munim Shahriar had resumed the day on 28 and 15 respectively. However, even though Munim returned without adding to his overnight score, Sukkur hung tight at one end and kept the scoreboard ticking.
Sukkur's innings came to an end after a 174-ball 85 and Bangladesh A were restricted to 339 all out in 124.1 overs after having started the day on 260 for five.
In response, the HP team stuttered and lost three wickets for just 41 after 20 overs before rain halted proceedings.
Earlier, like Sukkur, Najmul Hossain Shanto also fell agonisingly short of a hundred on the opening day as he was caught off a Tanzid Hasan delivery after a steady 203-ball 96.
