Shastri reappointed as India coach

India reappointed Ravi Shastri as the head coach of the men's national team.
Shastri pipped other candidates such as Tom Moody and ex-New Zealand and Kings XI Punjab coach Mike Hesson to retain his role. The Kapil Dev-led Cricket Advisory Committee (CAC) interviewed the six short-listed candidates today.
Shastri has been re-appointed for a 2-year term. "Number three was Tom Moody, number two was Mike Hesson. Number one is Ravi Shastri as you all were expecting,” said Kapil Dev during as press conference today as was reported by The Times of India.
Shastri was appointed head coach after Anil Kumble stepped down following the 2017 ICC Champions Trophy. Skipper Virat Kohli had openly backed him to retain his post following the 2019 World Cup in England.
