Rejaur’s fifer sees Prime Bank edge thrilling game

There was fine power-hitting on display in the Dhaka Premier League matches today as two captain's knocks came from Akbar Ali and Mosaddek Hossain but pacer Rejaur Rahman shone with a fifer in a gripping match at BKSP as Prime Bank notched their fifth win in a row to remain top of the standings.
Skipper Akbar Ali handed Gazi Group their fourth win of the ongoing Dhaka Premier League with a powerful knock against title challengers Mohammedan Sporting at BKSP's ground 4 today.
Sent in to bat, Gazi got off to a positive start with fifties from Mahmudul Hasan, Farhad Hossain and Akbar Ur Rahman before Akbar's incredible knock changed the momentum of the innings. Coming into bat at number 6, Akbar took the Mohammedan attack to the cleaners during an unbeaten 45-ball 89, laced with five fours and six sixes to propel his side to 346 for 7. In reply, Mohammedan were powered by Rony Talukdar's stormy 63-ball 82 but the latter batters did not contribute enough as they were bowled out for 274 in 44.1 overs to hand Gazi a 72-run victory. Al Amin Jr was the pick of the Gazi bowlers, bagging three wickets in seven deliveries.
Abahani Limited's skipper Mosaddek Hossain meanwhile shone with the bat at ULAB against Shinepukur Cricket Club, blitzing to a 65-ball 88 after Mohammad Naim's 81-ball 60 and Hanuma Vihari's 62-ball 55. Afif Hossain came in and hit 28 off a Mohor Sheikh over with four fours and two sixes in an over and remained unbeaten on a 11-ball 35 as Abahani posted 333 for 5. Shinepukur put up a big fight with 102-ball 82 from Avishek Mitra and Sikandar Raza's 93-ball 107 but Afif was the hero with the ball too, picking up both batters in the 35th and 41st over respectively as Shinepukur chase fell away before they were restricted to 299 for 7.

In another game at BKSP's ground 3, Prime Bank won a tight encounter against Brothers Union by 1 run.
Fifties from Shahadat Dipu, Nasir Hossain and Shamsur Rahman saw Prime Bank post 273 for 9. Pacer Rejaur Rahman Raja was the hero with the ball for Prime Bank, bagging a fifer including two wickets in the penultimate over of the innings with Brothers needing 8 runs from two overs. Raja gave away five runs in the 49th over to finish with five for 43 before Alok Kapali bowled the last over and picked up the one remaining wicket, conceding just one run in four deliveries to hand his side a one-run win.
