Bangladesh batsman Mushfiqur Rahim will miss the remainder of the tour in Zimbabwe for family reasons, a BCB media release confirmed.

Mushfiqur had asked the BCB to not include him in the T20 series, an appeal previously accepted by the board.

However, yesterday he was then asked to stay back with the T20 squad after completion of the ODI series on July 20th due to quarantine protocols for the Australia series at home. Family emergency means that he will now come back home without playing any further matches.

"Mushfiqur will leave Harare later today and travel to Dhaka. He will miss Bangladesh's three ODIs against Zimbabwe at the Harare Sports Club on 16, 18 and 20 July and also the three-match T20 international series that starts at the same venue on 23 July.

"The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) requests that all respect the privacy of Mushfiqur and his family at this time," the media release further added.

It was however learned that Mushfiqur's parents -- father Mahbub Habib and mother Rahim Khatun -- tested positive for coronavirus yesterday. Both of them were being brought to Dhaka from Bogura on an emergency basis today. They left for Dhaka at around 2:30pm today.

Bangladesh's last match against Zimbabwe is on July 27, following which they will return home for a five-match T20I series at home against Australia between August 2 and 8.
