Munro helps Trinbago clinch CPL title
Trinbago Knight Riders became the first back-to-back CPL title winners after a Colin Munro half century gave them an eight-wicket victory over Guyana Amazon Warriors at the Brian Lara Stadium.
Trinbago’s batting depth proved decisive in their chase of Warriors’ 147 for 9 as Munro hit a smashing 39-ball 68-run knock. Dinesh Ramdin and Brendon McCullum gave them a solid start with a 52-run first wicket stand before Munro took over proceedings, hitting six fours and three sixes in his innings as Knight Riders finished off the chase with eight wickets and 15 deliveries to spare.
Earlier, left-arm orthodox bowler Khary Pierre bagged three wickets as Guyana managed 147 for 9 on the board. Opener Luke Ronchi was the top-scorer, hitting a 35-ball 44 but Warriors’ kept losing wickets on a consistent basis and in the end could not put up a big enough total.
