Kohli drops out of top ten in Test batting rankings
Virat Kohli has dropped out of the top ten of the ICC Test batting rankings for the first time since November 2016 after the latest updates to the rankings took place today.
Since making his debut back in 2011 for India in Tests, Kohli has amassed over 8,000 runs in the format at an average close to 50 but recent form sees him land outside the top ten for the first time in six years. Kohli's last ton in Tests came against Bangladesh at home in 2019.
Kohli only managed scores of 11 and 20 against England and drops three places to 13th in the batting rankings.
Meanwhile, Jonny Bairstow made the biggest leap after today's updates, climbing 11 spaces to 10th.
Bairstow has 1218 runs at an average of 55.36 with six centuries in the current ICC World Test Championship cycle.
Rishabh Pant's recent form with two tons and three half-centuries in his past six Test innings has earned him a highest-ever position in the Test batting rankings, moving six places to fifth.
Joe Root continues to hail supreme at the top of the rankings and an unbeaten century (142*) in England's record chase at Edgbaston sees him attain his highest rating points (923).
Bangladesh's Liton Das dropped one place down to 14th in the rankings while Mushfiqur Rahim, who was 18th, has dropped one place below to 19th position in Test batting rankings.
Opener Tamim Iqbal and captain Shakib Al Hasan has both dropped one place down to 40th and 41st respectively. Nurul Hasan Sohan's fifties in the Test series saw him go up two places to 82nd.
