IPL confirms Shakib’s unavailability for this season

Indian Premier League (IPL) authority in a statement informed today that Bangladesh all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan has confirmed his unavailability in taking part for his side Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in this season.
KKR have signed England's Jason Roy for INR 2.8 crore for the season from his base price of INR 1.5 crore.
Shreyas Iyer has been ruled out of the tournament owing to a lower back injury.
Roy, who earlier featured in the 2017 and 2018 seasons, last played in the 2021 season for Sunrisers Hyderabad. In 2021, he played five games, scoring 150 runs including a half-century. The 32-year-old has played 64 T20Is for England, scoring 1522 runs at a S/R of 137.61 with 8 fifties.
Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) president Nazmul Hassan Papon earlier said that the board was maintaining its stance to not give No Objection Certificates (NOCs) to Test skipper Shakib Al Hasan and vice-captain Liton Das for the IPL due to national commitment.
Bangladesh pacer Mustafizur Rahman already joined Delhi Capitals as he is not under a central red-ball contract, so he was allowed to leave despite the Test against Ireland, started from April 4 in Mirpur.
