Reports from Sri Lanka had previously suggested that owing to poor World Cup performances, Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) were going to sack the coaching staff. During a press conference for Bangladesh’s upcoming ODI series against Lankans, coach Chandika Hathurusinghe had to field questions about his future.
“Is this going to be your last series as coach of the Sri Lanka team,” a journalist inquired. “I don’t know that. No one told me that,” came the Sri Lanka coach’s reply.
The Sri Lanka coach said that anything said about his future will not create any issues with how his team plans for the series against Bangladesh.
“As far as I am concerned, I haven’t heard from anyone who is relevant to me. Even if someone said that, it doesn’t affect our planning or the way we play cricket,” he concluded on the matter.
