Delhi eliminate Hyderabad
Rishabh Pant smoked 21 off the 18th over bowled by Basil Thampi to help Delhi Capitals past Sunrisers Hyderabad in the Eliminator of the Indian Premier League in Vishakhapatnam yesterday.
The left-handed batsman clobbered two sixes and two fours in the over to decidedly swing the tie in favour of the Capitals after a fantastic double-wicket-maiden from Rashid Khan had the Capitals in disarray by the end of the 17th over. Although Pant perished in the penultimate over, leading to a hiccup by the tail-end, his 21-ball 49, with five sixes and two fours, eventually ensured Delhi crossed the 163-run target with one ball to spare and two wickets in hand.
Earlier, Delhi bowlers pulled the plug in the middle overs, restricting Hyderabad to a par score of 162 for 8 on a good batting surface.
