Best preparation in terms of unity: Herath
Bangladesh Spin coach Rangana Herath stated that their preparations at Dubai is the best preparation for the upcoming World Cup.
The Tigers reached UAE on Thursday to play two T20Is against the hosts and while the matches may get them into some competitive cricket following the Asia Cup, the uninterrupted training sessions will help the side gear up for the tri-series in New Zealand and the World Cup in Australia. Skipper Shakib Al Hasan is currently playing the CPL and is unavailable for the series in UAE but Herath said the rest of the squad will pull together as a unit in these sessions.
"One of the best facilities we have had and we also had the same facility during the Asia Cup. As far as team unity is concerned, this is the best preparation.
"I know unfortunately Shakib is not here but the other guys will get opportunity to play good cricket. UAE are playing good cricket at the moment so this is going to be a good series and good preparation leading up to the World Cup," he said during a video message to the media before the session today.
Bangladesh managed just one training session at Dhaka as rain hindered preparations. The UAE tour will help the players regather as a unit.
"In this camp we need proper practice with our team just ahead of a World Cup. It is very important to have training sessions as a team and I'm sure the guys will get a lot of good practice on these surfaces under lights," he concluded.
The Tigers are slated to return to the country on September 28th before they leave for New Zealand.
