Bangladesh get brisk start
Bangladesh got off to a winning start in the ongoing ICC U19 World Cup as the young Tigers defeated their Zimbabwean counterpart by nine wickets at Senwes Park in Potchefstroom yesterday.
Zimbabwe managed a score of 137 for six in 28.1 overs before rain interrupted proceedings. After almost a four-hour halt, the match resumed with Bangladesh being set a reduced target of 130 in 22 overs via DLS method.
The young Tigers started off the chase brilliantly. Opener Tanzid Hasan scored a 10-ball 32, smashing three fours and as many sixes before being dismissed in the third over. Such a brisk start spiked the run-rate to 14 after five overs as Bangladesh cursed to the target. Mahmudul Hasan remained unbeaten with a 26-ball 38 and Parvez Hossain 33-ball 58 as Bangladesh romped to victory in 11.2 overs with nine wickets in hand.
