Albie Morkel appointed power-hitting coach for SA ODIs
Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) appointed Albie Morkel as a power-hitting coach for the upcoming series against South Africa.
The Tigers' ODI side are undergoing practice at the Johannesburg ahead of the ODI series, slated to begin from March 15. Morkel has already began working with the Tigers. He will oversee proceedings till the ODI series.
BCB cricket operations chairman confirmed the news to The Daily Star today.
"Morkel has been appointed as power-hitting coach and he will work with the team for five days, till the ODI series. We feel that his experience can help the batters before a key series," Jalal informed The Daily Star today.
The Bangladesh side are undergoing a coaching staff overhaul with Allan Donald having been appointed earlier till the T20 World Cup. Before that, BCB roped in Jamie Siddons as batting coach. Morkel, who primarily played in ODIs and T20Is for the Proteas, is the first-ever power-hitting coach to be appointed by the BCB.
