Aich, Naimur propel U-19s to series win
Aich Mollah struck a blistering century before left-arm spinner Naimur Rahman bagged a fifer to help Bangladesh Under-19 thump their Afghan counterparts by 121 runs in the third youth ODI at the Sylhet International Cricket Stadium today.
A boundary-laden 108 from Aich helped Bangladesh post a competitive 222 for six before Naimur's five for 17 in 7.4 overs saw Afghans get bundled out for just 101 in 39.4 overs.
The crushing victory also means that the young Tigers sealed the five-match series 3-0 with two matches in hand.
Bangladesh had lost opener Prantik Nawrose Nabil and Khalid Hasan early and were reeling at six for two after 4.2 overs. However, after that, Aich and Mofijul Islam steadied the innings with a 61-run stand before the latter fell prey to Ijaz Ahmad in the 29th over.
After that, Aich had starred in a few more crucial partnerships before departing in the penultimate over of the game.
Naimur, meanwhile, rattled through the Afghans' middle-order as he picked up the wickets of Bilal Sayedi (22 off 47), skipper Ijaz Ahmad (21 off 46), Zahidullah Salimi (13 off 18) and Ijaz Ahmad Ahmadzai (2 off 4) before wrapping up with the wicket of Izharulhaq Naveed 1 off 8).
