Cricketer Sunny gets bail

A Dhaka court today granted a one-month bail to cricketer Arafat Sunny in a case filed for torturing a 23-year-old woman, who claimed to be his wife.

Metropolitan Sessions Judges Court Judge Kamrul Hossain Mollah passed the order after the woman, Nasrin Sultana, informed it that she had no objection if Sunny gets bail.

Appearing before the court, Nasrin Sultana said she and Sunny reached a decision that they would start living together.

According to the case statement, Sunny demanded Tk 20 lakh from Nasrin as dowry six months after they got married on December 4, 2014.

On Nasrin's refusal, Sunny verbally abused her and left her, she claimed.

The cricketer was also sued in another case filed by Nasrin under Information and Communication Technology Act.
