BGB off to a winning start
Border Guard Bangladesh began the India-Bangladesh Friendship Handball Series with a victory when they handed a 33-30 defeat to West Bengal men's team in the opening match at the Shaheed (Capt) M Mansur Ali Handball Stadium yesterday.
BGB were trailing the first half 14-15 before bouncing back to score 19 goals in the second, thanks to Sudhan Barua, Sagor Mia and Mir Khairuzzaman.
In women's section, Bangladesh Ansar outplayed West Bengal women's team 22-12 after leading the first half 10-6. Nishi scored highest 10 goals while Kohinoor and Rubina scored four goals each for the home side.
West Bengal men and women's teams will play against Bangladesh Police and BJMC respectively at the same venue today.
