Barca not a good place for Brazilians: Ronaldo

Ronaldo has warned Liverpool star Philippe Coutinho to carefully consider a move to Barcelona following his own experiences.

The Brazilian legend spent the 1996/97 season with the Catalan club, scoring 40 goals in 46 appearances before leaving for Inter Milan.

Ronaldo also went on to play for Real Madrid for five years, winning La Liga twice with Los Blancos.

Fellow Brazilian Philippe Coutinho could be about to be the next South American star to make a move to the Nou Camp with Barca desperate to snap him up next month.

But Ronaldo believes it does not always work out for the best, especially when Brazilians are concerned.

“I felt much more happy and more connected to Real Madrid, despite having lived a great year in Barcelona,” he told Esporte Interativo.

“In the end, my history with Barca was very bad, similar to the one Neymar had.

“Barcelona has always had issues with Brazilian players: Neymar, Romario, Ronaldinho and me.

“We were all treated badly by the club in the end, despite all our contributions and dedication.”

Liverpool are desperate to keep hold of Coutinho in the January transfer window but Barca are making no secret of their plans to try and strike a deal.
