Bangladesh lose all six

The Bangladesh national hockey team's preparations in India for the upcoming Asian games came to an end as they suffered a 1-5 loss to the India A team in their sixth and final practice match in Bengaluru yesterday. The boys in red and green were defeated in all six encounters.

The visitors lost to the Indian Junior team in the first two matches while the India A team, which featured many national players, won the following four fixtures.

In the match, Bangladesh could have averted the goal in the first quarter but the hosts were unstoppable in the following three, scoring five more courtesy of a hattrick from Rupinder Pal, who converted three penalty corners, while Gurjinder Singh and Vikas Bhaiya netted one goal apiece.

Bangladesh only managed to reduce the margin in the fourth and final quarter as Ashraful Islam converted a penalty corner.

The team are scheduled to return home today afternoon.
