Tanbir rescues BD A
Tanbir Hayder hit an unbeaten 61 as Bangladesh A recovered from 114 for six to secure a three-wicket victory against Ireland A in the second one-day of the five-match series at the Sheikh Kamal International Stadium in Cox's Bazar yesterday.
The home side have now taken a 1-0 lead after the first match was washed out. The selectors announced one change to the squad for the third match tomorrow, bringing in opener Anamul Haque in place of Nadif Chowdhury.
"We called up Nadif after a long break considering his domestic form but he failed to impress us in the first two games. Anamul will come into the team in his place," informed selector Habibul Bashar.
Back to the match, left-arm spinner Sunzamul Islam and medium pacer Abul Hasan combined to take seven wickets as Ireland were bowled out for 195 runs in 48.1 overs with Simi Singh scoring a team-high 33.
Sunzamul took 4 for 33 while Abul claimed 3 for 25.
In reply, the home side lost their first wicket in the second over when Zakir Hasan was dismissed for 4 but Shadman Islam and captain Nazmul Hasan repaired the damage with a 56-run second-wicket stand before opener Shadman was dismissed for 24.
Nazmul made 44 off 69 balls but his side were reduced to 114 for six before Tanbir came to the rescue with a patient knock of 61 that came from 91 deliveries. Tanbir added 42 runs for the seventh wicket with Sunzamul (16) and 40 runs with Abul Hasan (10 not out) to take the hosts over the line.
