Shakib wants team to start winning overseas Test matches
Bangladesh Test and T20 skipper Shakib Al Hasan was buoyed by the Tigers' T20 series win against West Indies and the win meant that Tigers were able to put away their misery of bundling the Test series and come back to win both the ODI and T20 series.
The T20 series victory is important in its own right as it was only their second T20 series win away from home. Shakib believed that the win will give them the impetus to preform better against the big teams.
"This T20 series win now gives us the confidence that we can perform well in T20s and beat the big teams," the skipper said.
The Tigers however tasted bitter defeats in the Test series, losing the first Test within three days after being bowled out for just 43 in the first innings. The second Test was lost in almost the same manner although they did put up a bit more fight at Jamaica's Sabina Park which also ended within three days.
Shakib believed that having conquered an ODI and T20 series, it was time to also start winning Test matches abroad.
"We need to work on our Test cricket now. We are already doing well at home, now we need to go outside home and start winning Test matches," he said.
Bangladesh managed to win Tests at home and the Test captain right now feel that the onus is upon him to get the Tigers' to do well in the most challenging format of the game.
