Abu Hider fined for foul language
Use of foul language continue to bug Bangladesh cricket team as bowler Abu Hider was fined 20 percent of his match fee and given a demerit point for using inappropriate language during the second T20I against West Indies which the Tigers' won by 12 runs. Bowler Rubel Hossain had earlier been reprimanded after stump mic picked up an in appropriate word from the frustrated bowler during the third ODI against the Windies.
Bangladesh ran out winners in the second T20I to tie the series 1-1. The incident involving Hider took place in the 14th over of the West Indies chase after he ignored an earlier warning by umpire after Rovman Powell hit him for a six. Although Hider did not pick up any wickets, he was the most economical amongst the Tigers' pacers, conceding 26 runs in his four overs.
According to ICC's media release, the bowler was found to have breached Article 2.1.4 of the ICC Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel, which relates to 'using language or a gesture that is obscene, offensive or insulting during an International Match'.
The cricketer admitted the offence and a formal hearing will not take place.
