SMOKY FACTORIES AND ITS PEOPLE

Even in this modern world and computer age, the ‘It Bhatar Shromik’ (Brick kiln labourers) live like slaves. No one is there to fight for their rights. No one is there to help them in making bricks by using the latest technology. As a result emission of air pollutants like carbon monoxide, sulphur dioxide, nitrogen oxides for burning coal in kilns which these workers breath in causes respiratory ailments. These chemicals attack the body's immune system, affecting its ability to fight infection. The photographs were taken in Dhaka and Gazipur.
