PLOT: A teenage girl (Sajal) is assaulted and left alone to die by four men. Her parents, Devki (Sridevi) and Anand (Adnan), tries to seek justice through legal sources but the criminals get away unpunished. However, Devki won't let them go unpunished. With the help of a local detective DK (Nazawuddin), Devki goes on a mission to eliminate the criminals. The movie shows how she attempts to achieve her goal single-handedly, despite a suspicious cop (Akshaye) on her trail.

REVIEW: "Mom" is not just a word. It is emotion incarnate, and this movie was successful in illustrating the degree to which a mother can go to save her child. This movie focuses on how the women in India are unsafe and the state of law in which people can get away with such serious crime. The film highlights Sridevi from the get-go, and her acting was effective in bringing out the best in her character. She carried the whole movie on her shoulders much like she used to do in the 80's movies. 

Nawazuddin also made a good impact, and Sajal Ali portrayed the role of an innocent victim quite well. The other actors nailed their roles as well, even with the limited screen-time they received. The acting was definitely the strongest point of this film, and helped to deliver the overall message effectively. The movie is quite dark in both concept and plot, but the development of the plot itself was disappointing. There were no plot twists and the story was very straightforward. Similar themes have been portrayed in movies before so there was not much new in this one. However, it still has enough content to keep the audience sated for the entirety of its runtime.
