“The Greater Good"
Growing up, a lot of us have been taught to deal with emotional trauma using the time-tested method of "ignore it till it goes away." For sexual abuse that has been the case as well, just far worse. Girls have been taught to remain silent for the "greater good". If we have learned anything from famous real-life villains, that has always been an excuse for morally questionable actions. If someone speaks out, a part of society tries to corner them into thinking what they are doing is ruining the lives of others. Pushing these "for the greater good" tasks upon girls led to entire generations simply remaining silent and not speaking for the sake of their jobs, families or even kids. Despite these, when women speak out, they are often labelled as "damaged goods". Who are we to call someone damaged when we're the ones doing the damage?
