It's pretty much accepted at this point that humanity's future lies in the stars. What concerns us now is how and when we will get there. If you haven't already, check out The Expanse, the show brilliantly expands upon future racial, political and societal issues regarding humanity's system-wide dominance. The concerning factor is that we are grossly mismanaging our planet of origin as it is, what will happen if humanity exponentially scales up and spreads throughout the system? As fun as it is to think that running away to another planet might solve our problems, we have to remember that the planets aren't the problem, whatever happens to planets is the problem. Space exploration cannot be escapism. My point at the end of the day is that, as far as humanity can go, it also needs to take care of itself.
