The book that taught love
For the longest time, I never told anyone about my favourite book.
The story of how this unnamed book became my favourite among all is quite interesting as well. I remember picking it up one fine afternoon long ago, and after having read the first couple of pages, putting it away because I got really bored. The story didn't grab my attention then; it became just another book.
It was only days before my O Level exams that I – tired of withering my fingers on the calculator doing Pure Maths – decided to give this book another shot. Cue magic. And by the time I turned over the last page, the book would become my favourite. I was so enchanted by this book that I never told anyone about it, lest they read it too and it becomes someone else's favourite. I couldn't let that happen.
Over the years, I've only told a handful of people about my favourite book. Even fewer have actually read it, and they all love it. It's a beautiful feeling to share what makes you happy, and it grows the more you share the magic with people who appreciate it.
Maybe that's what goes on in a boy's life.
