IT'S NOT LOOKING GOOD
It's fascinating that around the world, there are still people who deny climate change. For us, living in the largest delta in the world, threatened by Mother Nature with increasing frequency, it's not quite that simple to run away from this reality. But even as children are taught in school about the greenhouse effect, as grownups discuss the causes and effects and the politics of climate change, as a UN report warns the world that is has only 12 years to limit temperature rise to 1.5 degrees Celsius or face irrecoverable damage, fossil fuel keeps getting consumed around the world and no considerable headway is made with renewable energy.
This week's issue of SHOUT has been made with climate change in mind. It's gotten to the point where most of us are reduced to apathetic shrugs symbolising that defeat has been conceded. It's gotten to the point where we really need to get our act together and fight this.
