Shah Cement hands over books to AUST Library 

Shah Cement, the leading cement manufacturer of the country for over 12 years organised a seminar on "Architecture for Green Living" on June 11, 2015 where keynote speech was presented by globally recognised Bangladeshi architect Rafiq Azam. This seminar, held at the central auditorium, was arranged in collaboration with the Department of Architecture, Ahsanullah University of Engineering & Technology (AUST). About 350 students of architecture department and about 250 young architects participated with founder VC of AUST, Prof. Dr. M.H Khan in the chair.

At the beginning of the Seminar, Director Operations, Shah Cement Industries Ltd. Hafiz Sikander handed over the five copies of the book "Rafiq Azam : Architecture for Green Living" to the VC Prof. Dr. A.M.M Shafiullah for the library of AUST aspiring that the book would be the guiding light for the future architects who will design the country's landscape with natures connection.

Special guest Prof. Dr. A.M.M Shafiullah, VC of AUST; Shariful Alam, Treasurer; Prof. Dr. M. A Muktadir, Head Dept. of Architecture, AUST; Convener, Seminar and Workshop Organizing Committee of Department of Architecture, lecturer Shehzad Zahir attended the seminar.

Architecture for Green Living is the first monograph on contemporary architectural practice in Bangladesh. Speaking on the occasion, Rafiq Azam expressed his vision of green living on contemporary architects of Bangladesh that reflected in the book. Among others, Brand Manager of Shah Cement Ibrahim Khalil and Sr. Engineer of Shah Cement Tasnuva Haider were also  present.

Seminar on "Actuarial Science: A glorious prospect for Bangladesh" at EWU

The Department of Applied Statistics of the East West University (EWU) arranged seminar on "Actuarial Science: A glorious prospect for Bangladesh" by Dr. Abdul Hoque Sharif, Actuary, Visiting Professor, Department of Applied Statistics, EWU on June 11, 2015,  at Aftabnagar, Dhaka. 

Dr. Sharif has been in the actuarial profession for more than 18 years in the USA and Canada. Currently he is an actuarial faculty at the University of Connecticut, USA. In his presentation Dr. Sharif said, on the basis of demand actuarial science has a glorious prospect in Bangladesh. A postgraduate diploma in the actuarial science programme will start at the Department of Applied Statistics of EWU, from September, 2015. 

Dr. Mohammad Sohrab Uddin, Actuary, Chairman, Sadharan Bima Corporation, former Deputy Governor, Bangladesh Bank, was present as the chief guest, and Prof. Dr. M. Mosleh Uddin, Coordinator and Adviser, Department of Applied Statistics, Member, BOT, EWU was present as special guest. 

Prof. Ahmed Shafee, VC, EWU, chaired the seminar. 

DIU Chairman appointed as visiting professor at UUI

Md. Sabur Khan, Chairman, Daffodil International University (DIU) has been appointed as the visiting professor for his expertise in the fields of business, entrepreneurship, nation building, leadership and IT management at Universitas Ubudiyah Indonesia (UUI), the cyber university of Indonesia, dedicated to produce the scientists, researchers, professionals and future leaders in this region. 

BRACU completes Tri-Nation Professional Fellows Exchange

Centre for Entrepreneurship Development (CED) of BRAC University has successfully completed the Tri-Nation Entrepreneur Exchange Programme for the very first time. It covers groups of entrepreneurs from Bangladesh-Myanmar-India. The programme was supported by BRAC Myanmar and Entrepreneurship Development Institute of India (autonomous Govt. of India org.). This is to be mentioned that, the implementation partners of the programme is the U.S. State Department and the University of Oklahoma. 

Research Methodology Training at BUBT

Certificate Giving Ceremony on "Intensive Training Programme on Applied Research Methodology" took place at the permanent campus of Bangladesh University of Business and Technology (BUBT) on June 10, 2015. Prof. Dr. Dil Afroza Begum, Member of 

UGC graced the occasion as the chief guest, Prof. Dr. Shafique Ahmed Siddique, Chairman of BUBT Trust attended as the special guest while Prof. Md. Abu Saleh, the Vice Chancellor of BUBT presided over the ceremony.

Public Health Department orientation ceremony at ASAUB

Public Health Department of ASA University Bangladesh (ASAUB) arranged an orientation ceremony for its newly admitted students of Masters of Public Health (MPH) degree programme of Summer 2015 on June 5, 2015 at its conference room. Prof. Dr. Kohinur Begum, Dean, Faculty of Science & Engineering and Prof. Dr. Md. Abdul Bari, Chairman, Dept. of Public Health and other teachers of Public Health Dept. were present in the programme. 

Chairman of the department highly appreciated the students for selecting ASAUB as their venue of higher education. The speakers appraised the facilities available at the ASAUB and highlighted job opportunities for the MPH degree holders at home and abroad. Newly admitted students appreciated the venture of the MPH Degree Programme of ASAUB. Dr. Jesmin Akhter, Assistant Professor of Public Health Dept. conducted the event.
